Joseph "Joe" Francis George
Joseph "Joe" George, 49, of Tacoma, Washington, died Monday, November 18, 1996 at a Tacoma nursing home. Vigil
services were conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 22, 1996, at the Flahiff
Funeral Chapel, Homedale. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday,
November 23, 1996, at St. Hubert's Catholic
Church, Homedale, with Father Don Fraser officiating. Burial followed at the
Marsing/Homedale Cemetery, Marsing,
Idaho.
Joe was born August 12, 1947, in Nampa, Idaho, a son of Allen C. and Alice A. Bathurst George. He was raised in
Homedale graduating from Homedale
High School in 1966.
Following high school Joe joined the National Guard, subsequently enlisting in
the U.S. Air Force where he served his country during the Vietnam war. During
his military service Joe became disabled and was medically retired in 1977. For
the past 18 years he had lived in
Tacoma,
WA. Joe was a person who made
friends very easily, and especially enjoyed working with the "downtrodden." It
was very important for Joe to stay close to his family and many friends. Joe,
our "Gentle Giant" you will be sadly missed.
Joe was an avid reader and loved to travel especially by Amtrak.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Allen and Ila George of
Homedale; four brothers, John George of Texas; Steve George of Texas; Michael
George of Nampa; Allen L. George of Texas; five sister, Daphne Chrysler of
Washington; Barbara Ineck of Boise, Patty Cook of Boise; Mary Rita Yamamoto of
Caldwell; and Nancy Messick of White Bird, Idaho and many special nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Nick George.
Memorials may be given to the
American Diabetes Association, 1528 Vista
