            Vincent Udlinek

            Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. last Friday at St. Hubert's Catholic Church, Homedale, for Vincent Rudolph Udlinek, 86, Homedale, with Father Jesus Camacho, pastor, as celebrant. Interment followed in Homedale-Marsing cemetery. Rosary Devotions were recited at 8 p.m. last Thursday. Mr. Udlinek died June 12 at his home.

            He was born Sept. 28, 1903, in Bismarck, No. Dak., a son or Rudolph J. and Mathilda Novak Udlinek. He was reared and educated in North Dakota. He moved to Idaho in 1936.

            He married Erma Kershner on Sept. 7, 1940, at Caldwell. The couple resided in Homedale. They moved to Kooskia, Idaho, where they lived for nine years, then returned to Homedale. He farmed until his retirement. Following retirement he was a self employed truck driver.

            He is survived by his wife, Erma of Homedale, a son Larry Udlinek of Adrian; a daughter, Irene Knopes of Clarkston, Wash.; two brothers, Richard Udlinek of Nyssa, and Alan Udlinek of Pascoe, Wash.; four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

            The family suggests memorials to the Idaho Lung Association, Boise.

            Erma Kershner Udlinek

            Erma Kershner Udlinek, 92, of Homedale, died Monday, August 7, 2006 at a Caldwell hospital. Memorial services were held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 11, 2006 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale.

            Erma was born December 30, 1913 in Ontario, Oregon, a daughter of George and Martha Pierce Kershner. She was reared and educated in Ontario. When her brothers had ranches in the Owyhees, she would ride horses between the ranches. She married Vincent Rudolph Udlinek on September 7, 1940 in Caldwell. The couple moved to Kooskia, Idaho for 9 years before returning to Homedale in 1962.

            She loved volunteering, especially at the Senior Citizen Center. She was awarded volunteer of the year in 1994, for work with the Ida-Ore Council on Aging.

            Erma is survived by a daughter Irene Knopes of Spokane, WA; a son Larry Udlinek of Homedale; grandchildren, Mariah Udlinek of Holden Beach, NC; Matt Udlinek of Nampa; Donna Garcia of Las Vegas, NV; Mike Knopes of Portland, OR; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vince and six brothers.
