Graveside services for Don Swan, 77, of Long Beach, Wash., and formerly of the
Treasure
Valley, who died Monday, Aug. 31, at Portland, Ore., will be
held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Canyon Hill Cemetery,
Caldwell.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Pentilla’s Chapel By
the Sea, Long Beach, with the Rev. William Leed of Evangelical Lutheran Church,
Chinook, Wash. officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Pentilla’s
Chapel By the Sea.
Mr. Swan was born Nov. 5, 1909, at
Arthur, Neb., to Benjamin and Ida May Tucker Swan. He
graduated from Boise High in 1926 and went to Davis
Agricultural
School
in Davis,
Calif., graduating in 1930.
He worked in dairy farming for 21 years. He owned and managed apartments
and worked for the Idaho State Penitentiary for about six years. He came to the
peninsula in 1966 from Boise.
He worked in cranberry farming in
Washington
for eight ears.
He married Martha Alsaker in 1983 at Chinook. They made their home in Long Beach.
He was a member of the Gideons, Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship
International, Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chinook, and the Ocean Beach
Cranberry Club.
While in Idaho he had been active
in the school system and the Farm Bureau, being named soil conservationist of
the year at one time.
He is survived by his wife of Long Beach;
two daughters, Joan Henry of Beaverton,
Ore., and Donilyn Thomson of Denver,
Colo.; a sister, Betty Lillegard of
Boise; and a brother, Paul Swan of Marsing; five
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

- Graveside services for Mrs. Eleanor Swan, 67, Long Beach,
Wash., who died Sunday in her home, will be
conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Canyon Hill by the Rev. Robert Obenchain of Caldwell. Interment will be
directed by Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mrs. Swan was born March 20, 1907 in
Oklahoma. She taught school at Sweet,
Roswell, and Homedale for a number of years. She moved to Long Beach in 1966 where her husband has a
cranberry farm. She was a member of the Homedale Christian Church.
Survivors are her husband, F. Don Swan, Long Beach;
two daughters, Mrs. Joan Eleanor Henry, Beaverton, Ore., and Mrs. Doni Lynn Thorson,
Washington,
D.C.; a brother, W.J. McCoy, Boise; a sister, Mrs. Faye Sperry, Notus; and
four grandchildren.
