            Paul Simon

            Memorial services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. last Thursday in Homedale for Paul Simon, 71, Homedale, with Rev. Bret Shroeder, pastor of Mr. Calvary Lutheran Church, Homedale, officiating. Cremation was under direction of Flahiff Chapel, Caldwell. Mr. Simon died May 11 at his Homedale home.

            Mr. Simon was born Sept. 5, 1920, at Windsor, Colo., a son of Henry and Katherine Simon, immigrants from Emmuarez, Russia. When he was very young the family moved to Dewey, a small community in Eastern Idaho. He graduated from Ammon, Idaho, high school.

            He married Barbara L. Kershner on Sept. 12, 1943, in Homedale where the couple made their home. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served until 1946. The couple made their home in Townsend, Mont., from 1947 until 1950 when they returned to Homedale.

            Following their return to Homedale he worked for the City of Homedale for 32 years, retiring in 1982. During this time he was a volunteer fireman and served as Chief.

            He was a member of Elks Lodge, Caldwell, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

            In addition to his wife, Barbara, his survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Dean Kessler of Payette; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Karen Simon, and a son, Kent Simon, all of Boise; a son-in-law, Ed Fisher of Homedale; six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Elmer Simon of Townsend, Mont., Ruben Simon of Twin Falls and Jake Simon of Idaho Falls; numerous nieces and nephews.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hermon, a sister, Helen and a daughter, Kathy Margaret Simon Fisher.

            The family suggests memorials to Homedale Volunteer Fire Department.

 

Barbara L. Kershner Simon

            Barbara Simon was born in 1926 and was last known to reside in Homedale or Nampa.
