      Clyde Phillips

      Services for Clyde A. ‘Pete’ Phillips, 69, of Caldwell, who died Sunday, Dec. 14 at the Nampa hospital of natural causes will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.

      Gill Free of the Caldwell Church of Christ will officiate, assisted by Pastor Vernon Wilcox of the First Church of the Nazarene, Nampa. Burial will be at the Wilder Cemetery, Wilder.

      Mr. Phillips was born Nov. 18, 1917, at Cortez, Colo., to Elijah and Linnie Phillips. He was raised and educated at Cortez, coming to Wilder in 1938.

      He married Caroline Daugherty June 22, 1940, at Wilder. They moved to Caldwell in 1946 where he was an implement parts man for Mollerup Equipment, Caldwell, for many years. He later fed cattle at the Van Wick Ranch in the Dixie area near Caldwell for several years.

      He married Betty Brisbois Aug. 29, 1970 at Caldwell. He drove truck for the Canyon County Highway Department until his retirement in 1984.

      He had been a member of the Canyon County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse for many years.

      He is survived by his wife of Caldwell; two daughters, Anita (Mrs. Richard) Dynes of Nampa and Ann (Mrs. Doug) Tweedy of Clarkston, Wash.; a sister, Opal Jessee of Wilder; two brothers, John W. Phillips of Caldwell and Lee R. Phillips of Wilder; six stepdaughters, Sonra Nelson of Payette, Judy Sanborn of Portland, Ore., Marquita Dial of Houston, Texas, Carolynne Gamble of Los Gatos, Calif., and Jan Stuppy and Sharyl Williams, both of Coeur d’Alene; and a stepson, Dr. R. Steven Brisbois of Spokane, Wash.

      He was preceded in death by his first wife.

      Memorials may be made to Columbia Christian College in care of Dakan Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 1386, Caldwell 83606; or a favorite charity.

      Services Held for Carrie Phillips At Nampa Church

      Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday morning, July 18, at the Nampa Friends church for Mrs. Vivian Caroline (Carrie) Phillips, 45, of Notus, who died late Monday night in a Caldwell hospital. Rev. Robert Morrill officiated. Interment was in Wilder cemetery under the direction of Dakan Chapel of Caldwell.

      Mrs. Phillips was born May 6, 1923, in Wilder, where she was reared and attended schools. She was graduated from Wilder High School in 1941, and was married June 22, 1941, in Wilder to Clyde A. (Pete) Phillips.

      Following their marriage they lived in the Wilder community for several years and then a number of years in Homedale.

      The couple since had lived in the Caldwell area. She attended Northwest Nazarene College, and taught the third grade at Notus School for the past three years.

      She was a member of the Friends Church in Nampa.

      Surviving in addition to Mr. Phillips are two daughters, Mrs. Anita Dynes of Nampa and Ann Phillips, at home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Daugherty and a sister, Annabelle.
