Barney Egurrola, Jr.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Morris Hill
cemetery, Boise, for Barney Joseph Egurrola, Jr., 64, Homedale, who
died August 26 in a Boise
hospital. Father Mel Sprute, pastor of St. Hubert’s
Catholic Church, Homedale, officiated.
Honorary bearers were Don Parker, L.N. Parker, and Angel Bicandi.
Casket bearers were Don Schoonover, Ray Mansisidor, Ed
Chadez, John Takasugi, John Bicandi, and Fred Demshar.
Scriptural rosary was recited Sunday evening at 8 p.m. in
Homedale by Father Sprute.
He was born March 7, 1918, in
Boise, to Bonifacio and Josefa Egurrola. He attended
St. Joseph’s Academy and St. Theresa’s Academy, both in Boise. He graduated from Eagle High School
in 1937. He worked for his father in the sheep business until 1941, when he
began working for the Boise City Bus Co.
He married Lucille Jorgensen on April 11, 1943 in
Boise. They moved in 1959 to Homedale, where he farmed
until retiring in the fall of 1981.
He was a member of St. Hubert’s Catholic
Church. He served on the board of directors of the Homedale Labor Camp and was a
board member of the Homedale-Marsing Basque Association.
He is survived by his wife of Homedale; a son, Fred Egurrola of Homedale;
his stepmother, Lorraine Meso of Boise; two brothers, Jess Egurrola of Denver,
Colo., and John L. Egurrola of Boise;
three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
his parents and a brother Joe.
Memorials may be made to the Homedale Ambulance Fund.
