            Rosary devotions will be recited at 6 p.m. this evening (Thursday) at Flahiff Chapel, Homedale, for Lewis W. Cegnar, 72, who died Tuesday at a Nampa Care Center. Father Mel Sprute, pastor of St. Hubert's Catholic Church, Homedale, will recite the devotions.

            Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Friday) at St. Hubert's Catholic Church. Father Sprute will be celebrant. Interment will follow in Homedale-Marsing cemetery.

            He was born on May 25, 1914, to Frank and Mary Kalan Cegnar. He was reared in the Austrian settlement south of Homedale and educated in Homedale schools.

            He married Ethel Parr on Nov. 30, 1942, in Homedale. He farmed all his life in rural Homedale, retiring in 1982 due to ill health.

            He was a member of St. Hubert's Catholic Church. He served as chairman of the Homedale Highway Commission.

            He is survived by his wife, Ethel of Homedale; a son, Ron W. Cegnar of Lexington, Kentucky; a daughter, Cindy of Lexington; a brother, John Cegnar of Homedale; a sister, Mary Jesenko of Homedale; two grandchildren, Tim and Ann; several nieces and nephews.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Linda, and a brother.

            Memorials may be sent to the Music Department of St. Hubert's Catholic Church or flowers may be sent.

            Ethel Cegnar was born in 1924 and is still with us.
